Please note that the Auto Unlock doesn't work so smoothly as mentioned in these videos, mine doesn't work at all. Never Auto Unlocks. And the GPS based system used for Auto Unlock should be optional. Close contact via Bluetooth should also be able to Auto Unlock the Deadbolt. This should be given as a option and customer should be able to select as per his/her preference. Each customer has a different requirement, and the plan of the house is also different. You cannot pretend that every house is the same. Just give the option to select. And U-Tec has also removed the IFTTT and Google Home/Assistant support as well. Only Alexa works. Which makes it worse.

Had a smart key cylinder similar to the one you demonstrated with. During rekeying I managed to make it not work with any keys. Without your video I would have needed to buy another lock because a locksmith would probably cost more. Thank you !!

This was extremely helpful. Client messed up the rekeying sequence making the tumbler system reject the original key and the new one. This video made it quickly possible to take the lock apart and set it up correctly. Thank you very much!

Even this video was posted 7 years ago, it still applied to latest Kwikset Halo WIFI smart lock. I lost the key for my lock. By following the instructions, I was able to reset with new key. The step was pretty much similar! Thank you for sharing this inspiring video!

I was given a a deabbolt with out keys. I was going buy the Reset cradle from the hardware store but found this video. It took just a few min to setup this lock using a different key. Thanks for the amazing education

Can you manually lock the door when in a room or do you let it lock itself?

Thanks for the great video. I purchased this lock but my door is 2 inches thick, the maximum that schlage says will fit is 1-3/4 inches. Will that 1/4 inch be a problem? If so how can I fix it, please?

Thanks! Had the problem with the exterior door handle falling out, and the homebuilder had NOT keyed this lock (it had to be replaced), so I couldn't get to where you need to insert the allen wrench. After doing the reset per this video, I was able to fix that part too.

My contractor managed to unkey a "smart" key lock, so I had to disassemble the handleset to get to the cylinder (as I figured I would) and this video helped me understand the lock mechanism so I could reset it to my key. You would think kwikset would have some advice about this process, but no... Thanks for the video.

Really wish I had found this video sooner... as a commercial maintenance and general handyman I had 3 doors in need of a key. I usually would just repin them but these locks are a different beast and the how to wasn't ez to find until your excellent video. Took a whopping 2 minutes to perform 🍻

Glossed right over the removal of the side bar with the two brackets holding it in. Didn't mention the two little springs that are beneath the side bar and a very necessary component of the lock. One of the little springs sprung onto the ground never to be seen again. Thanks bro, for ruining my $139.00 lock. Also, it is the back and forth sliding that locks in the new key. Leave the key in while you put it back together. Ilive in Vegas, might go down there and make fix it.

How do you renew a locked oem key .

Perfect, my hero! Had the auto-lock trigger right at the worst time in the re-keying, interrupting and leaving the cylinder effectively keyed to no key at all.. Not a mistake I’ll make again, but not too tough a fix either, thanks!

I am trying to do this but unable to get the lock out because I don't have the pick tool. Was anyone else able to use something else to take it out?

Nice lock I like the design

Not a reliable safe. When the battery is low, it doesn't warm you, and won't open. After a few years, mine has quit working altogether, even with a new battery. It was so flaky, I got in the habit of checking functionality every night before sleep. I own the SV500 with the buttons, and those are also unreliable. One of the buttons doesn't always recognize my input. On average, I had to enter the code twice before it would open. Then, over time, it stopped opening altogether. Not what you want for a life and death situation.

I too had botched the reset piece, because I had taken the assembly apart to install new pins before I realized it was a smart lock ( didn't know about the smart lock before today) Your section that described re-installing the side bar was the critical piece for me. I had been trying to put it together prior to installing the key. Great video.. Saved me.
